ESS : HR self service
HR self service is an increasingly prevalent trend in HRM that allows an employee to handle many job-related tasks that otherwise would have fallen to management or administrative staff. An HR self service application may be available over the company's intranet or portal, the HR self service is also available through specialized kiosks, and the HR self service may be confined to a company's private network. HR self service software is available as a stand-alone product or HR self service is available as a component of some larger application, such as an ERP product.
HR self service is part of a larger movement towards automated and, increasingly, Web-enabled services that encompasses e-support, e-voting, Web self-service, e-procurement, and e-outsourcing, among other possibilities.
